“Ukraine” is an installation honoring Liza, a Ukrainian woman whose story emerged through interviews conducted by the artist with war survivors.

The work comprises a 10-minute audio of Liza’s story, an object, and a performance. Central to the piece is a sadhu board, drawn from Indian ascetic traditions.

Liza adopted this extreme practice to confront trauma and reclaim agency over her body and mind.

In the performance, the artist stood on the nails, creating an embodied connection with her experience.
