MARIES

This series addresses the Catholic Church’s visible influence on political decisions in Poland, particularly regarding women’s rights. St. Mary, one of the most important religious symbols, embodies the ideal mother, protection, and consolation in times of suffering. She can be understood as a contemporary emblem of women’s struggles, allowing identification with their pain and the pressures imposed by institutional and
societal expectations. The work examines the tension between devotion, authority, and the ongoing negotiation of women’s autonomy.
